About Chado Tea Room

Traditional teahouse with more than 200 kinds of tea plus sandwiches, salads & pastries.

Chado Tea Room is a tea house in Pasadena, California. It is listed at 79 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103, which places it among the local businesses of Pasadena that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Bubble tea, tea houses, Asian bakeries and dessert shops in this group are usually walk-in, counter-order businesses with a menu board overhead listing sweetness and ice levels you can adjust when ordering. Standard bubble tea customization includes sugar level (0-100%), ice level, and a choice of toppings like boba pearls, pudding or jelly, usually at a small extra charge. Asian bakeries sell items individually with tongs and a tray, cafeteria-style, rather than pre-boxed, and pastries are typically less sweet than Western bakery items. Lines build up quickly after school and in the evening, especially near colleges. Most of these businesses accept cards and mobile pay and skew younger in clientele and atmosphere.

Pasadena is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pasadena follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Five stars to the employees. The same server has helped us a few times now and he's great. The food is good enough for tea haha. There are some sandwiches that I don't love and the macaroons are a little dry. The scones are great though and I think there's something for everyone. The tea is also great. There are plenty of options and they are large servings. One downside I feel is that restaurant is always hot. They have fans in there but they don't run them all the time and you really only benefit if you're in front of one. I'm not sure they have air conditioning or maybe it's just not adequate for the space. That's the main reason I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars.

My husband and I visited Chado Tea Room for my birthday celebration, and we had a wonderful experience. We ordered the Celebration Tea Service, which included chocolates, a specialty drink, soup or salad, sandwiches, cookies, a scone, and a pot of tea for each of us. The presentation was absolutely beautiful and made the experience feel extra special. I chose the Jasmine Vanilla tea, which was delicious. My husband ordered a green tea and, despite not usually being a fan of hot tea, he really enjoyed it as well. The tea selection and quality definitely stood out and felt superior. While the food was good, I would say the real highlights were the atmosphere, presentation, and overall experience. We sat outside, and the patio was beautiful. A special shoutout to our server, Sam, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. Once he found out it was my birthday, he surprised me with a birthday dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration even more memorable. We truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend Chatto Tea Room. I would love to come back again, especially for a girls’ brunch or another special occasion.

Such a very cute place. I took my bestfriend here for her bachelorette party. They let you choose any kind of package ( the whole table, dose not have to pick the same package.) then pick a tea, then soup or salad, then they bring you a very cute tea pot each one is a different theme. Then a tower plate, with sandwiches n desserts. I would so be coming back here just for a girl chat or anything really.

About a month ago my friend and I went to Chado for a birthday tea lunch. We had the best time. It was for my friend's birthday and we enjoyed ourselves so much that we lost track of time and were there for about 3 hours chatting and enjoying tea and the food. The food was not only beautiful but tasted delicious. I loved all the sandwiches, but especially the chicken salad sandwich. I am gluten free and they made a wonderful spread for me. The staff member who helped us was so nice. I appreciated that he let us stay for so long and chatted with us. He was very knowledgeable about the teas and gave us great recommendations. I loved the white cold tea and I got a black tea that was so smooth. I bought both for home. We will definitely return to Chado!

I love this tea room, never fails to please me. I have been to many tea rooms and this is my favorite, and in my humble Brit opinion the best. It’s been a good while since last visiting and this time was no different. We chose the Christmas afternoon tea and my goodness worth every penny we had to box left overs. They even sent us home with a tea cup and saucer which will be added to my collection❀️ was a lovely surprise on opening the bag. Thank you for finishing the holiday season off lovely.
